If you want to be happy, be.
I am having a FANTASTIC day so far. I woke up early, worked out, read my scriptures and wrote in my journal, did all my laundry, deep cleaned the kitchen and my room just for the heck of it, wrote my beautiful Mom a Valentine's day card, met Tiana at the post office, sent a letter, came back, and am currently eating some pistachios and writing this. Nothing is going to get me down.
On top of that, I finished 4 papers this week before the weekend, I only have one class today, the sun is shining, it is GLORIOUS outside, there is a gymnastics meet tonight so I can go support my friend KayCee from back home who is on the team. Today is looking up.
My sister's post today made me smile. Trust me, I am not copying her post! I seriously was gonna write about being happy.
http://tianathedaisy.blogspot.com/2011/02/smile-its-friday.html
Plus, I love Simon Baker as much as anyone, and that witty "I know you are up to something Patrick Jane" smile he does is just the bezzzt. I love the mentalist.
Best thing I have bought in a long time:
Some random lady named Colette once said, "What a wonderful life I have had, I just wish I would have realized it sooner."
So my buddy Daniel "The Maniel" Pavlakos just came in and taught me about photosynthesis and cellular respiration for his biology class. As a pre-requisite for teaching me, I forced him to teach as I blasted
techno music and he had to bob up and down and dance, and sing to the beat. That just compounded the excellent day I am having.
I realized that the key to happiness is to be yourself. Don't let anyone bring you down, don't let anyone change you - who you are and what you like. If that means listening to that old Bing Crosby song that makes you happy, and your roommates are groaning and questioning your tastes and who "Bing Crosby" even is, so be it!
Like Kris Allen said, we've only got 86400 seconds in a day. Live like you are dying.
In the JFSB they have all these little "nooks" that people can just sit at and relax and study. I managed to find an empty one overlooking the inner courtyard which was amazing because the sunshine was pouring in on the right side of my face and I felt so good sitting there.
The courtyard of the JFSB is really pretty. They have an awesome fountain that people sometimes put dish soap in to be funny. The snow in the middle looked to me like a deflated marshmallow that was put in the microwave, pumped up to maximum extension, and just left to sit and deflate.
Oh and there is me in the reflection.
Have a great day, everyone. Really, you deserve it.

So pretty much, I've decided my eyeball kinda looks like honeycomb in this picture. So crazy.
Yesterday around noon I had the desire to go to the top of the JFSB where you can go onto this roof section overlooking campus and take a picture because it was glorious outside. So I got up to the 4th floor, and low and behold the doors to get outside are locked!? What?! I took a picture from inside.

Today - Stream of Consciousness Post
I've had a pretty good day today. I got to wake up early and start my day off right by going to the temple once again. Today was especially crowded, there were lots more people then normally are there at 5:30 in the AM. I came back and went to sleep for an hour and a half until I woke up at 8:30. Then I realized that I still hadn't completed some of my Book of Mormon reading that was due today so I read 2nd Nephi 2-7. Luckily, there was no quiz in class today. I have been spending lots of my time writing several papers that are due coming up soon, most are due on Valentines day (this coming Monday.) I was about to ask my Political Science paper to be my Valentine, until my teacher graciously extended the due date another week. That guy is so awesome, it made my day. Tonight I am heading over to watch the BYU basketball game at my brother from another mother Justin Green's apartment. Tomorrow I also got invited graciously by my wonderful sister to go see Cinderella at the Di Jong concert hall since she had an extra ticket. I figured, what the heck. A break in the schedule can't hurt! I wanted to go outside and kick a soccer ball around for a bit, it has just frankly been too long since I was able to do that, but my roommate Hunter wasn't home unfortunately. Cleaning checks on Saturday at 10:30 AM. What else is going on....uhh....oh some guys downstairs attempted the "Gallon Challenge". The challenge is to chug a gallon of milk and survive through intense feelings of nausea afterwards. Although I didn't witness it, the random fact of the day board in their window said "Gallon Challenge: 4, Gallon Challengers: 0". I never want to try that.
I thought this was an awesome video.

Looking through old pictures is lots of fun. I remember doing this with Gemma one time.
I remember on Memorial Day getting to go to the gymnastics gym and mess around for a few hours. Blast. I would do anything to do it again! Here is my best spiderman pose.
If I were a fish...
I believe I can fly.
Do I look like my Dad ?
(Photo taken in 10th grade...)
This is my dog someday.
This is me on the first day of College. I remember because that is the shirt I wore in my ID card picture. Good times.
This post is a result of boredom and a little bit of slacking off. Back to WORK!
Jet Fighter
Sitting in Astronomy yesterday, learning about the planets. I was really proud of this drawing. I got lots of the cross hatching pretty good the the 3D for the most part looks good, except I botched the angle of the tailwing a little bit, but I can live with that.
Also, this is lower on my paper. I drew a guy, who if he could speak would be saying "IT WAS THIS BIG" in Don Knotts voice from the Ghost of Mr. Chicken. The telescope thing was all random. Here's how it works; the telescope looks into the starry night sky, the computer processes the image and makes it 3D, then the hologram emitter projects it into thin air for your viewing pleasure!

Listen to a nice tune and check out some random drawings.
Now I thought this was hilarious. I was searching through some of the stuff that I brought to college and found an old notebook. As it turns out, this notebook was from 7th GRADE!! I used to draw spaceships and planets and stuff all the time, so I scanned in this galaxy I drew and the page adjacent that outlines what each planet it like and the name of it. Turns out, not much has changed from then to now :)

HOME.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jqxENMKaeCU&feature=player_embedded
That film is an hour and a half long, but has some of the best screenplay I have ever seen. If you don't think that civilization is destroying the Earth as we know it, take a look at that video and you will see that things are seriously changing in these modern times. I watched the whole thing this morning because it was so good.
"Humans have shaped the Earth in our image, and we have very little time to change."
"It's too late to be a pessimist."
If anything, go to 1:18:00 and watch from there on, there are some really great stories about things that people are doing to preserve the Earth we live on.
On another note, I love surprises. At 10:50 after class my sister called me as I was walking to Book of Mormon. The conversation went on and she asked what I was up to;
"Oh just walking to Book of Mormon, you?"
"Just walking too."
"Where are you?"
"Right outside the JFSB..."
"Did you say the JFSB??"
"Yeah, where are you?"
"Right outside the JFSB, in front of it, in the courtyard!"
"Where are you?!"
"I don't see you..."
"I'm right in the open!"
Then suddenly, the crowd subsides and there she is standing, looking around for me. I start going towards her and when she finally see's me coming up on here we just both burst out laughing and give each other a bear hug. We just laughed at the coincidental nature of the situation. I was on the phone with her, and on all of campus we end up bumping into each other! I had a big grin on my face all the way to class. That just made my day.

Oh What A Game
BYU Wins, again!
The UNLV Rebels (first of all, the name of their school makes it seem like they are about to go through secession all over again, a la the Civil War haha) went down in Provo. The Jimmer was too hot to handle. I feel like a sports writer right now, but I had a really good time at this game. I feet honored to witness the all new all time Mountain West Scoring Leader score 29 points in this game today.
I have awesome friends who know people, so instead of camping out for days to get good seats, we came 20 minutes before they let everyone into the arena and got seats 8 rows back, where all the action takes place. The fans were crazy even before the game. A few of them erected this huge sign of Jimmer Fredette's head out of 4 huge quadrants. Jimmer is like a huge icon around here people go crazy over that guy. The funny thing to me is that he just proves that big things come from unlikely places. Let's be honest here, the guy just doesn't "look" like a basketball player. But that guy can play OUT of his mind. He makes comfortable shots 10-15 feet behind the 3 point line. Now that is rrrrrrrange.
We had a good view of the Hinckley building from our spot in line, except for that little old garbage truck that came across the picture haha. Oh well, it was just doing it's job.
So, background story on this one. In Robbie and I's Life Planning and Decision Making Class there is a cheerleader named Maria Allen, she's great. Well her and Robbie have been going back and forth as to whether or not Robbie would come to a game with a sign that says, "Maria Allen # 1 BYU Cheerleader". Robbie made her promise that if he did she would give him a shirt. Well low and behold Robbie shows up with the sign, Maria flipped out and couldn't stop smiling, and delivered a shirt to him right at halftime.
Like I said, I have never been this close to the front before. I loved our seats, even if I didn't have contacts in, with my terrible vision everything would have been clear!
Maria told us to come down to the floor after the game to say hi to her. She ended up keeping the sign of course, but it was awesome that she appreciated it so much. The Cheerleaders never get any love from the crowd, so they were all mouth open when they saw the sign and looking at Maria. Funny times.
I finally got a video of someone doing something cool! Usually whenever I am filming they get swatted or turnover the ball. This time, Jimmmer takes it to the rack.

The other team had a few athletes. Nothing compared to San Diego State but they could still throw down. Then again, our point guard Jackson Emery threw down in this game. The place just erupted.
Only thing I don't understand about Cosmo; Why does he perm his hair above his biceps? Why is it longer? Its like his razor got too dull to cut it all. He is such an amazing dancer I would love to interpret some of his skills.
Jimmer Fredette: All American, All Sportsman haha.
BYU's biggest basketball fans! Big Cecil Samuelson and Russell M. Nelson! They are best buds at the games. Cecil is my homeboy.
Suddenly Cosmo appeared in our row and everyone jumped on him and went wild. I was lucky to snap this picture with him.

King of Wardrobe Fail
Woke up yesterday, and walked outside to go to class. I was running a little behind so I didn't bother to check outside for the weather. Oops!
Turns out it was 8 degrees farenheit outside, it was very windy, and it was about to start snowing. I was wearing shorts which was a bad idea. Luckily it only snowed a little bit, but as I looked around campus at the tens of thousands of students around me, I counted a total of 2 people wearing shorts (myself included). I should have gone up and shook that other guy's hand, but oh well. He already knows that he is cool, I mean come on. He is wearing shorts.
It has been veerrrrryyy chilly around here lately.
I snapped a picture to document the occasion yesterday. Warning: it looks nice outside, but looks can be deceiving. It was cold enough to where it seemed like someone took a spray can of liquid nitrogen and released it all over your face, and then when you got inside your classroom building the heat made it seem like your face was about to break and shatter like something sprayed with liquid nitrogen. Or at least that's how I felt!
On a lighter note, I have a soccer game tonight! I can hardly wait after waiting a very long time since the last one! I have been DYING to play soccer. I always feel like that.
Today my Life Planning and Decision Making teacher, Dr. Nielsen (this cute old lady that reminds me of our old neighbor Mrs. Call only with a higher voice) asked us if anyone actually enjoyed the weather when it was in the single digits. Since nobody raised their hand I did and she goes, "Oooh Carson, why do you like it?" I went on this discourse on how I enjoyed the survivalist aspect of it, and that it was an adventure for me facing the elements. I think she really enjoyed that, even though everyone else just looked at me like I was some crazy that just came out of Siberia.
I have been doing homework and reading and studying non-stop for the past 3 days. Literally the last hour, as well as 30 minutes on Monday night is the only free time I have given myself to relax. I was in the law library from 11:30 to 3:12 today....but who was counting. I got so much done though. I also was told by my friend Justin to look into reading D&C 79, 80, 81, 99, 106, 108 because they are all about getting a mission call. I took the time to read them and I felt really good afterwards, it made me really excited to get my call as soon as I can!
I go to the temple every Wednesday morning with my friends. It has gotten to the point where we know who will be baptizing us because this doctor comes every Wednesday at the same time. He always greets me with, "Hello, Brother Teuscher, how are we doing this morning?" as I enter the font, which makes me feel really good. I would like to get to know him more, but we are always doing baptisms so its a little hard to engage in friendly conversation. These 3 old guys are always in the confirming room, and they always make me laugh. They remind me of the old night guards on "Night at the Museum" because they are always exchanging clever remarks. This one always somehow inserts an "N" into my last name and calls me "Brother Teuschner" when he is confirming me. I just smile and go along with it, because its not really worth bringing up. I love going to the temple and doing work for the dead because it gives me lots of purpose and something to look forward to every week.
Anyways, wish me luck tonight!

Yowzers The Irony
I mentioned before that this week was sheer brutality for me for a plethora of reasons. I have an uncanny amount of reading and assignments to complete, just like probably every other college student does. So I was in the library last night listing out everything I had to do in the upcoming week;
Constellation Quiz
Mission Prep Paper
Book of Mormon Study Guide
Book of Mormon Mid Term; 1 Nephi 1-22
Hobbes Reading Pg. 585-605, 606-612, 621-625
Astronomy Review #2
Perspectives on the Environment 61-63
Choose Article for Rhetorical Analysis
Locke's 2nd Treatise on Government 685-591
Hobbes Quiz
Writing and Rhetoric 85-103
Completed Audience Profile
Soccer Game Wednesday Night
Mission Prep Daily Journal
Start Political Science Paper
Astronomy Reading (like 200 pages to skim(
I was in my planner charting when I would do all of the aforementioned homework throughout my week so I could space it out in manageable chunks. But no matter what I did it seemed like I was in the library all day every day for the next week! Then I look down to the bottom of my planner and find this quote, in small lettering (and what seemed like it was purposefully placed there for me to see, and then to smile);
"After suitable rest and relaxation there is not a day, hour, or minute that we should not spend in idleness, but every minute of every day of our lives we should strive to improve our minds and increase [our] faith [in] the holy Gospel." - Brigham Young
So, as it would turn out, this is good for me. The irony that I am spending every day doing homework for like 9 hours a day is only going to benefit me to do well in the classes that I want to do well in. I will be anxiously engaged in a good cause, which is learning and obtaining knowledge, which is the only thing we can take with us to the celestial kingdom. So, I am doing the thing that will benefit me the most in the long run...the really long run :)
