Dallin, Matzen and Carson's Day Out

Dallin, Carson, and Matzen are the only two humans left in Provo, Utah. What a day this would turn out to be. I say the only two humans left because we were forced to eat Matzen in the storm....just kidding...

Well not really. It just seems like that because everyone has left already! We decided to spend the day together before both of us leave tomorrow. You never know what you will do when you have the rest of the day off with no classes and you are just ready for break! Well, first things first. We went to the BYU creamery because I had to spend some money on my card before I leave so I don't lose any when they add more next week. Here is what we purchased, to stock up for the impending blizzard!;

Our Inventory:
(1) Bag of Lays Sour Cream and Onion Chips - a personal favorite.
(1) Double Stuffed Oreo - been craving them all year. Hunter eats them all the time.
(1) Mandarin Jarritos Soda - One of my Dad's favorite
(2) Pro-Relaxation Classic Lemon Lime Superliminal Purple Stuff "Calm Down, Relax the Body, Focus the Mind"
(2) Kern's Nectar Guava Guayaba Juice
(1) Fresh Coconut ------ EDITED LATER- discovered to be offensively maladorous.
(1) Pillsbury Orange Cinnamon Roll Cylindrical Container
(2) Jello Green version
(1) Trident Layers Gum

We are proud of our purchase.

Time: 5:44 PM.
We have established a weather center in my room. We are stocked up and supplied. Dallin's laptop is constantly mapping out the storm before our eyes as I chart the analysis on a graph. We make orange cinnamon rolls to subsist and purple relaxant to not overstress during the storm. It tastes superliminal.

We check what KSL guy has to say. He says its gonna be big.
Dallin knows it is.

The sky shifts and shapes until it comes to the calm before the storm.

This is the storm center graph.

After charting the storm center graph we realized something--The storm would never come.
This was a bitter disappointment. We waited in anticipation in the storm center for 4 hours. Only to get less than an inch and some sideways snow. The blizzard lasted for approximately 35 seconds. Our dreams of eating a blizzard from dairy queen in the blizzard and a coconut in it too were shattered.

We walked through the snow to the Marriott center to see the mens basketball team win yet again right before break. We played Mississippi Valley State University, they are ranked in the preseason NIT poll, but they ended up being rank, in a bad way for them and a good way for us. The score discrepancies spell it all.
After the game we were extremely bummed out as to the lack of snowfall in the air and lack of blizzard engulfing us. We walked back and watched some French films, including "The Count of Monte Cristo", one of my favorites.

After said movie, the inexplicable happened.
Dallin got out the tool of the evening, one knife specifically sharpened to delve deep into the coconut core. After much struggle attempting to open up a hole in it, we were able to shove a twisty straw from Brenton's desk into the hole to suck from it's juicy contents. Dallin went first, experiencing the brunt of the expectedly sweet substance -- alas, it was not so....

Dallin's eyes bulged as his throat contracted. It tasted as if oysters had been mottled after sitting out in the Sahara for eons, as gila monsters slept on it and it was fermenting in the acid secreting from their bellies. But, Dallin recommended we try some, as none of us knew the true nature of coconut drink. (We all didn't know what to expect, for all we knew normal coconuts taste like this).

Matzen and I were the next to suck from the tormenting silly straw. My tongue instantly picked up the bitter taste and I swallowed the juice raw and writhing. Matzen followed suite. He also discovered the taste was, in his words "not one of my favorites." We ventured outdoors in the cold to attempt to resurrect the hope we had for an adrenaline filled evening to crack open the coconut and partake in the succulent meat within.

Dallin's phone let us know that it was 18 degrees. The temperatures had indeed, as the weatherman on KSL stated, "dropped like a rock". Our stomachs were soon to follow suite.

So much anticipation, so little pleasure....

As Dallin's strong fingers pried open the outer coconut shell, we gasped in the horror and tremendous anguish as we unmistakably found the eighth horcrux--a rotten inner coconut lining. Its liquid residue currently resided and squirmed in our stomachs, causing our bowels to churn and a chemical reaction to ignite our adrenaline. We yelped and screamed as the pain of the rotting juices burned our stomachs and souls....

I apologize for the bad picture of the coconut; this was after Dallin chucked the thing into the nearest bush from the due shock and horror of the current situation. The creamery had the AUDACITY to sell me, a rotten coconut. ARHGHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!

The scene of Frodo walking up Mount Doom in Mordor to destroy the ring came to us. This scene is comparable to my fellow comrades and I marching off to do the same. We came to a tree, and decided to hang it from the tree so that all would know the terrors and destructions that it had caused. This coconut was the most pustuler, morbid, decomposing, toxic wretch to ever fall from the wrong side of a tropical wonder. As it traveled countless miles, through land and sea, to one Provo, UT (a landlocked state, might I add), it must have been thinking to itself, if I rot on the inside now, someday I can rot on the insides of another individual, or three. A DIRECT comparison to that of Satan and his evils. If you notice something looks good on the outside, it can destroy you and your inner soul as you wallow in pride and partake of this substance. This coconut is the forbidden fruit, but alas, we did hold at least some of our dignity. If we had attempted to machismo the situation and dominate the fruit, it would have dominated us. The moral of the story, and the day is:

DON'T JUDGE A BOOK, A STORM, A FRUIT, SATAN, THE WORLD, BY ITS COVER! THE WORLD OFFERS SO MUCH, DO NOT PARTAKE IN THINGS THAT ARE NOT MEANT TO BE PARTAKEN OF!

ALSO- ROTTEN COCONUT JUICE MAKES A GREAT LAXATIVE. THAT IS ALL.UNFORTUNATELY...

Jimmer whaa?

So my buddy Dallin and I were heading into the BYU Creamery to get a massive burger for each of us and we are standing in line and this guy walks in...

I texted Emily Davis who was sitting at our table and said, "Jimmer Fredette is right there!" He had his whole little possey but Emily kind of stalkery side shot a pic with her iPhone haha. This guy is like the Michael Jordan of BYU.

You never know who you will see around huh?

Ah great.

Dad:

I am now regretting getting my plane ticket for Wednesday to wait for Tiana. It is supposed to be a high of 18 degrees Wednesday. And a low of 1 degree. Haha!

DATS COLD!

Love,
Carson

Saturday the 20th of November

I had a pretty busy Saturday once again, its basically a given here at BYU that you are bound to have a busy Saturday and weekend in general if you really try to. I woke up around 8:30 and hung out for a bit, made some breakfast, and then I got invited to see my friend Karen fill in for a volleyball team and crush the competition! Great job Karen, you are much, much better at volleyball then I can ever hope to be. After that my buddy Karlee and I went to a flute concert because I had to attend my 6th concert before Monday for my music 101 class. Honestly, I expected a simple, down to earth flute concert. But the third piece was the weirdest, most odd piece I believe I had ever heard. When the program says that it is played with an electric flute, electric cello, and electric piano, and is based on whale sounds throughout infinity, and all three players have to wear Zorro masks throughout the entire thing, you know you are in for something....er....original.

I was scared through parts of it though, it really gets the blood going...those whale sounds....

Anyways, after that was the last home football game of the year. We destroyed New Mexico, but it was weird to think that it is the last time I will be in that stadium for almost 3 years until after my mission. I had a blast despite the biting coooooold.

Luckily Karen sits close by and had a blanket to share with Dallin and Brenton :)
Is this thing on? This is us walking to the Football game.
The sky was amazing thoroughout the entire game. I love sky pictures, so I took quite a few. I loved this one with the American flag waving in the wind.
Hey dude.
I love me some Mike and Ikes during a football game. Christmas edition!

Karen busted out the blanket and Dallin quickly assumed babushka position on the left.

 Can you see me??
This was the thing that quite honestly made my night. Brenton got Karen (who is 6'2'') on his shoulders and from the front it looked normal, but from the back it looked like a huge giant was roaming the streets! After the game we were walking among a mass crowd of people and everyone was laughing and I could hardly contain myself either!

Had to protect my nose from falling off, silly billy!
So after the game I was invited to fill in for a guy who couldn't make it on a double date with my friend Kaylie, and they wanted to go roller skating. At first I was like maaaaaaaan, I've already tried roller skating at my little sisters 8th birthday party at oaks park and everyone is always better than you at it and can break dance and slide on one skate with another person tandem with them and it makes you feel like you can't even turn right, but after awhile I just let go and had some fun. I must say, those few seconds when you are struggling with balance and your arms are flailing like an air traffic controller on an aircraft carrier are the scariest pumps of adrenaline you can imagine! But overall the music was great, and I had a blast. And when we came out, it was snowing/hailing! Hope everyone had a great Saturday as well!

Random Tidbits

The best things in life are oftentimes surprises.Coming home from a grueling hike at Eagle Creek and seeing the cutest little kitten running around in our bathroom was easily one of the best memories I have. That cat is gonna be big when I get back! My dog is such a stud. My wonderful mom took one of the best pictures of him by far and its still my favorite one. I thought I would share it again if I haven't already.

Also, Trip. Dude you are a stud. I'm not going to ask what you were thinking making this face, it must have been when I left for a few minutes to get water or a snack from the candy counter or something, but Its a funny one. I can't wait to see you in a few short days my main man.

The mountains are B-E-A-utiful as of late. Sprinkled with snow, the imposing overlook of Timp in the background as I walk to school every day, its just a grand sight.

Its odd to think that a few months ago I was on the summit of this beast. It is so high it creates its own weather systems as you can see by the clouds. I don't even want to imagine how windy it is up there in this picture. I got it from here

I'll admit Timp looked a lot different then then it does now. I think I prefer it with snow on it. Which makes me want to go skiing now that I think of it....

Skiing would be nice, hopefully we can go at least once over Winter Break at Mt. Hood Meadows!

The top of Mt. Hood Express when there are limited clouds offers a view that is to DIE for. Good times.

Dad, think you can still keep up with me? Haha just kidding. I have a rough time keeping up with him as it is! Remember going down Heather Canyon, my first double black, and I could barely get over those seemingly 10 ft. moguls? My legs were on fire after that ordeal, but you made it down just fine. Can't wait to see you either!
Tiana and Alison pose for the camera.

On the far side of the mountain, shooting star express. Man this makes me want to ski really bad!
Sorry for the stream of consciousness post, but I didn't really have too much to talk about. Tons of people missed class today because of the Harry Potter premiere, my friend Emily even almost forgot to wash off the scar she drew on as she was walking out the door today. Emily, that's what happens when you only get like 5 hours of sleep, you should try going to bed at 10:30 every night :)

I've got one more class before the weekend. Thank goodness it's FRIDAY.
