A Walk Down Memory Lane

Well today I was cleaning my room, like not just surface cleaning but deep cleaning, trying to de-clutter the mess that I had because of all the stuff that I had out. I was digging through a storage bin I had and I found a photo album that my Nana made and (we call Grandma and Grandpa on my Dad's side Grandma and Grandpa, and on my Mom's side Nana and Papa - its just the way it's always been) gave me when I turned 15 for my birthday. I opened that thing up and was flooded with memories of my past, fond memories that only pictures could bring back to my mind. Memories of family reunions at Cannon Beach (my favorite beach in the world), memories of cousins that I haven't seen in much too long, Aunt's and Uncles that I also haven't seen in a long time, soccer pictures when I was like 12 or 13 (I can't remember), and of my Papa who passed away when I was 9 on Halloween in 2001. I really enjoyed going through lots of these pictures - there were even pictures of me playing soccer for my team that I played for growing up for like 10 years- the Eagles. I hope you enjoy seeing me when I was a "little tyke" and see how I was raised and the great family that I have. These pictures are all on my Mom's side by the way, just a note. 

This is by far the best Halloween costume that I have ever had. That is me with my Great-Grandma Frankman who lived in Seattle. The carrot was even attached so me (as a bunny rabbit) could nibble and chew on it - as you can plainly see.

Aw...Tiana loves me. 

This is on Christmas day in 1993, according to the back of the card. That makes me 1 and a half years old. I had a passionate love of Soccer even then, maybe this is where it stems from. Also, I love the onesie look. So perfect. 

Pretty much had the best bowlcut ever when I was like 2 or 3. You couldn't top this one. I am here playing with some horses or animals of sorts. Perhaps this is where I got my love of animals as well. Also, 90's Calvin and Hobbes shirt and semi blonde light hair anyone??

Hahaha! Colton Johnson (my cousin) and I at Cannon Beach. Our family used to go there all the time (every year I want to say?) for family reunions. I love our outfits. We are building a boss sand castle. 

This was a family reunion at our cousin's the Palmer's house. That particular year we decided to build potato cannons, since they live in the desert in Bend, Oregon. Hilarious side story, my older cousin Nate, Alex, and I accidentally fired one off (they have a lot of kick) at this plywood castle they had and blew a hole through both walls. Oh man!

Family photo! Haha I am sporting the Mariner's jersey way back when. Two to my right is Colton once again, making indubitiously the most priceless family photo face of ALL TIME. This was at my Nana and Papa's old house, one of my favorite places in the whole world. 

 As you can see, Colton changed his face for this one and decided to bust out the funny smile. This is in the entry way. 

Zach (Colton's brother), Brigitta (wow you look so cute Gitta!) and me at Cannon Beach probably around 1999 or 2000. I remember we used to always stay in these condo's that were awesome.

This is Nana and Papa's house on the outside. This was taken a really long time ago. The residents who live there now (my Nana moved out a long time ago), painted it and did some other random stuff to it. But honestly, this is like my dream house, just the way it was then. 

These were all my cousins back then - now there are lots more obviously. I am in the sweatshirt under my cousin Nate in the foreground. That was my favorite Shahala Eagles middle school sweatshirt. I wore it for years. Tiana is the girl on my left, next to Robbie in the batman shirt. Brigitta is in the bathing suit on the top. She always used to wear her bathing suit around like a diva haha!!! 

Finally, at Cannon Beach with my Dad, two uncles, some cousins, and Papa. We dug a massive hold that day. I am the little guy standing the the towel around me, not the bigger little guy, Nate. 

Good times.

Create a Constellation

For astronomy class, we have to do certain assignments such as creating our own constellations based off several stars that are randomly placed. With my Mom's advice, I decided to do a church based design, and attempted the classic image of Captain Moroni hoisting the title of Liberty in the sky as he wields a beastly sword. Sorry if you can't read my handwriting, I did it really quick. It basically is just telling the story of Captain Moroni in the book of Alma. The colors don't pop as much in the scanned image - but in the real one they look pretty good. Comments or suggestions welcome! 

I said he was placed next to Orion in the Winter Triangle so they could battle each other or Taurus together.

Oh yeah.

Happy Birthday B-Dawg

Dude, sorry I am a day late. But seriously, happy 19th birthday! We have been through the works together. All manner of camp outs and hikes (like the one below to that cabin when it was raining for 2 solid hours and we were in the dark trying to pull all of our stuff on sleds), or snowcaving expeditions (my favorite) because we are professional snow cavers, super activities with boats, dune buggies, bikes, beaches, kodiaks (haha), craters that have turned into lakes, mosquito bites, scout camps, waterfall hikes, swimming in tick infested ponds, so on and so forth. I hope you are having a great time at BYU Idaho!

At the last BYU basketball game,  lots of people were there to see. One guy walked in who is pretty famous with his son (best mohawk ever btw) and sat down courtside to see the Jimmer dominate once again. This guy:

I took a picture of the back of his head and called it good! 

Also, randomly I saw and said hi to a member of my home ward, Doug Gillespie. He said he flew in for the game and it was incredible to see him here. Then, right before halftime, I look down behind the basket and there is good old Doug, standing there! How the heck did he even get down there....then the half time game that always happens is that a person dribbles and scores a layup at one end, then comes back and tries to hit a 3 to get a $25 gift card to the BYU bookstore. Doug Gillespie was the participant! How funny and random is that?!?! I kept telling everyone, "I know that guy!"...I think they all thought I was crazy. 

And then a pillar of light exceeding the brightness of the sun descended...haha just kidding. It was sunset outside and the sun could only shine through one door on the concourse, so for these lucky people they looked like angels with rays of light over them.

Took these pictures walking to the RB on Saturday. The mountains in the background were great, and just overlooking the whole southeast side of campus and all the athletic buildings was great as I came over the hill.

This is why I love soccer. This is why I love Wayne Rooney. I could watch this a million times and it would never get old. Soccer is so spontaneous, when a moment like this (a derby match GAME WINNER overhead goal) happens, it is pure gold. Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.....my mouth is still wide open, aghast because of the pure awesomeness that I have just beheld.
