Cats on the loose.
Sorry if it seems like I'm just beating this into the ground but cats are my favorite animal. Sorry my room was a wreck in the second video I was packing for college. The first video is of Leo over thanksgiving break. I just love how he pokes his little green eye out.
I uploaded those to youtube so I thought I would share them on here too :)
Also, awhile ago I noticed that my cat seems to have both a blue and a green eye. Shocking....maybe it was just the camera? But I love this picture.

When I Get Closer, It Stops
Dallin and I were in a moment of quiet when I noticed on my camera's display the lights that are normally still were pulsing quite madly on the screen until I got it close enough.
Also, I apologize that my computer is dirty. When in light it shows the dust that is there seemingly magnified times infinite.
Final's Preparation Week
Oh Leo. You always were one with the words. Yes, finals week is upon us. But first we have to go through the last week of classes. I feel like Leo right about now. Right now it is a shout of joyous anticipation for classes to end, but in a week this face interpretation will change to; "ow my brain hurts".
(This picture was indeed taken mid-yawn, requiring lots of skill and finesse with a camera.)

2-1 To The Arsenal
This was a great weekend in the world of sports. Well, except for the Blazers. They have been on a little bit of a slide lately. But lets just not talk about that right now. Lets talk Arsenal.
They have been fighting back after a slow start, and after the person in this picture named Samir Nasri scored two wonder goals to put them in the lead 2-1. Overall with the victory they go to the top of the table, which is big for a club that hasn't won any silverware in over 5 years. I am pulling for them to win the Champions league, the Carling Cup and the Premier League this season. Ambitious, but who doesn't want ambitions.
Also, this is my new wallpaper on my computer. It is the tallest building in the world in Dubai, the Burj Khalifa. It is an impressive piece of architecture and obviously Dubai in the United Arab Emirates is booming lately, what with all the oil money and what not. But this is a stunning high definition.

Playing With Light
Well a few days ago I found myself sitting at my desk reading something or another for a class I have and suddenly I look up and there is a rainbow right over my computer. I felt so loved that this wonderful rainbow would come and keep me company for a few minutes when I was just struggling to get through a reading. After a few minutes of investigation I decided to try and find where this light was coming from. It turns out that by using a camera you can get lots of different colors out of your mirror when light hits it the right way! Here is some of the colors that I managed to get; (By the way this reminded me of the light prism scene on Pollyanna, when Bean is in that old mans house and they are looking at all of his prisms. That old man always kinda used to scare me. Anyways..)
My friend Lauren has another really cute friend named Dora. This kitten is her friends and sometimes she is allowed to kitten-sit it for awhile. She brought cute little Dora over and we hung out for quite some time. Dora started getting all paranoid and running everywhere, here she luckily got fixed looking on something and we got a picture! But this kitten is seriously very cute. Darn I love cats.
So I home teach the nicest guy in the world; Devin Dalhberg. One day he heard that I could draw pretty well and asked me to draw him a very specific picture of a spaceship that was using some sort of equipment to observe and look at a planet. But unfortunately I forgot to draw the picture and I felt horrible until he reminded me, so last night I quickly drew something up for him, and luckily he liked it! Sorry for the wait Devin!!
Brenton made some awesome pancakes this morning. This is what he made with the rest of the batter, a smiley faced alien creature thingy.
See the similarities?

Also...
The Little Rascals are the best, not the wannabe ones that are in the most recent color film, but the true, "Our Gang" little rascals. I would always watch a ton of these at my Nana's house on VHS tape, and by far this one is my favorite;
I wish someone could find the whole version, because it is impossible not to laugh or smile at it. The background story is that all the kids think that this wild man from Borneo is their "Uncle George" and he chases them into this house and hilarity ensues when everyone things he is going to eat them. This spanky is the cutest little boy ever.
Thanks for reminding me, Tiana!

Call Me Old Fashioned
So, don't know if you know this about me, but I'm really old fashioned. Not in the sense that everything I do replicates what people did in the golden days, but in the sense that I love things that are a part of history, and I love stuff that other people don't neccessarily ever give a chance or a second look.
Take, for instance, my favorite actor of all time; Buster Keaton. (comparable to Charlie Chaplin)
This man is a genius, a legend, a stud all around. Mom I will never forget when you gave me this movie to watch and I loved every second of it, even if it was filmed in 1928. There are so many underlying humorous aspects of his short and long films that I can never get enough. I spent an hour yesterday watching parts of it again and reliving old memories. I know that lots of you don't have 2 hours to spare, but in case you do and want to see a masterpiece, and get some laughs on the side, please take the time to watch Buster Keaton in "The General", or any of his other pieces that are even shorter.
Even not in the realm of movies, its the music that I love as well. I love music written during time periods in the past, some of my favorites being the happy times sang about by Bob Crosby in "Way Back Home" and some of the songs by the ink spots, namely, "I Don't Want To Set The World On Fire". Tiana, remember rocking out to these songs? The lead singer of the Ink Spots, Huey Long was born in 1905 and died just one year ago, aged 105. Pretty insane! Listen to this song and it is impossible to not want to live in the 40's and 50's, everyone was so much happier back then!
Even old ragtime piano music is the best. I heard Maple Leaf Rag by Scott Joplin in music 101 the other day and I remembered loving this song ever since I was little. I really want to learn that on the piano, and I really regret never learning the piano when I was younger!!! I would be honestly happy if this was the only thing I could play on the piano.
I encourage everyone to try new things. Even though something isn't the latest hip hop or pop song, the coolest or newest movie, there is gold in the past and in history, and liking things like this is still cool, at least in my book.

He literally never changes his face. His nicknames are "Stone Face Buster" and "Frozen Face"

Uh Oh.
I legitimately can't think of anything to blog about right now. Also, one of my classes was cancelled today, so that's basically good news. Now I can indubitiously do my laundry!

Its December. I like that.
Seems like everyone is doing big elaborate lists of things about them lately, thought I might make one up myself...
10 Things I Love About Star Wars (out of order):
1.I love the relation Star Wars has to every day life. In other words, the Star Wars saga represents so many quasi-logical parallels to the human predicament and situations we as a human race go through it is unreal. You can look at the ongoing battle between the Empire and the Rebellion and easily relate it to past historical events. Take, for instance, the French Underground forces in World War II under Charles De Gaulle who openly defied Nazi occupation in their country. Open tyranny has always been interlaced with conflict. The Empire is the perfect example under the Emperor as the type of regime that would come in after anarchy that results after deep change. Take for instance when the Jedi were hunted down and slaughtered? The people of the galaxy had lost their initial peacekeepers that they were so accustomed to so they sided with the only faction that would be able to support them. And for twenty years they lived under that tyranny until the rebellion led by some rag-tag soldiers took down the massive machine that was the Empire. Poetic.
2. Jedi Knights are some of the most noble role models that a child can look up to. Heck, even I look up to them as heroes still. As a kid I would always love reading about the peacekeeping actions and noble deeds that they were able to complete against all odds. Take Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon in episode 1, my favorite episode. They go on a peacekeeping endeavor to try and negotiate with the scum Trade Federation Nemoidians including Nute Gunray, are gassed and assaulted, but still escape and make it to the queen safe and sound.
3. There are so many intense lightsaber battles, it is hard to choose a favorite. Lightsabers in general are just awesome pieces of technology. I always tried to imagine how to invent one, perhaps someday I shall. My favorite lightsaber battle is impossible to choose, but is split between the 2 v. 1 battle of Obi-Wan, Qui-Gon, and Darth Maul and the end battle between Anakin and his master, a gentler and more aged Obi-Wan.
4. Space ships are my thing. Flat out. Everyone has something they could read about for ages and never get tired of it, for me it is space ships. I don't care what they look like, where they come from, what planetary species manufactures them, (although I do prefer Correlian made vehicles), they all rock. My favorite small fighter from Star Wars (you see, there are different classes of ships), is probably split between the ARC-170 and the Naboo N-1 Starfighter. I had a lego version of the Naboo N-1, but for sheer battle damage I would go with an ARC-170 with a good clone trooper by my side.
5. How could someone create a species as cute as the Ewok? They are the quintessential teddy bear. They are cute and cuddly and can hold up themselves in a good fight on the forest moon of Endor in episode 6! Honestly, I think it would be impossible to hate these little guys as they come flying in on vines and sometimes single handedly destroy an AT-ST walker.
6. Respect your elders. That is something I get out of Star Wars that has really helped me be a better person. As Luke Skywalker, the proverbial "Thor" of the Star Wars series (yes, Star Wars has many mythological -- or should I say monomythological references of the heroes journey), would come to find out, there is always someone to mentor him along the way. That is the same with our lives. Be it a parental figure, a professor, teacher, a church leader, or any other person, they are there to help us along our way. An elderly Obi-Wan Kenobi, or "Ben, the crazy old man who lives in the dunes", would come to tell Luke, "The Force is what gives a Jedi his power. It's an energy field created by all living things. It surrounds us and penetrates us. It binds the galaxy together." A true statement for a true age. I am glad that Luke heeded the instruction of his elders and ultimately brought about the timely end of the Empire as we all knew it.
7. Star Wars teaches us to control our own fates. I was recently reading up on this website where a guy was talking about this popular Harrison Ford quote; "There’s no mystical energy field that controls my destiny.” Han Solo, Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope" This is the bare ideal of the American Dream in dramatic form. Here we have a lone ranger, one as famous as Han Solo no doubt, teaching us about taking things into our own hands. If we have a dream, don't leave it up to chance. If we want to go after something we have always wanted, who is anyone to tell us we can't? Han Solo is a stud, unruly and unkempt, and frankly a scruffy looking nerf herder at times, but a stud nonetheless.
8. The Music. If you don't know me, I love Star Wars music. John Williams is my man because he created the perfect backdrop to the perfect space odyssey. When has that first sequence of the big blast or sound where the yellow words are panning up the screen ever been old? When has the lighthearted celebration music when the empire was defeated been annoying, or the intense, jumpy, suspenseful sounds of when Luke is in the Death Star trench firing off his proton torpedo been thought of as, unfitting? I love Star Wars music, and will probably love it for the rest of my life. You should all look up the song, "The Moisture Farm" from A New Hope and tell me that isn't the quintessential song of Star Wars, with the perfect Luke motive at the end. Or the song "Throne Room/End Title" from the same movie. John Williams has composed a masterpiece that will be enjoyed for countless years to come.
9. Many childhood memories. One of the reasons that I am a huge star wars fan is indeed the fact that is was one of those childhood things that helped me progress as an individual. It helped me learn to have an attention for detail in drawing when I would try to replicate what Doug Chiang would draw as concept art in my The Art of Episode 1 book I got in 7th grade. It made me want to write stories about people that I created within the Star Wars universe. It made me envision and want to learn about what was happening lots of years before and after the movies, and you better believe stuff was happening then (like a great sith war 1000 years before the first movie). I would always draw space fleets with my friend Nathan Reed in 6th grade on small pieces of notebook paper folded into 4ths and we would compare different designs. I would have 2 or 3 plastic lightsabers and choreograph the moves they did in the Arena scene in episode 2. I would play some of the video games, including my favorite "Knights of the Old Republic". Overall it has had a big impact in my life. Some people would argue, "you must have been a huge nerd, heck you still are!" Honestly, WHO CARES? I could care less what people think about me. If Star Wars gives me the inspiration to draw things like this, I am fine with that;
10. The ULTIMATE example of good vs. evil. (Brenton helped me a little with this one).
Obviously there are countless tales of good vs. evil, but how many are this all emcompassing? This passionate? This enthralling? That's what I thought. Think of the Emperor as Satan. The most evil thing anyone can conjure. Are we not in a constant battle with him every day? Darth Vader's temptations to Luke to join him on the dark side to ultimately control the galaxy? Do we not face that every day? The world we live in is like the Empire that is constantly trying to delve deep into our spirits and bring us over to them. People love to put us under scrupulous peer pressure to do this. I hope we will all stay on the rebellion and help overthrow this Empire. The world we live in can be changed by our good examples. I hope you have enjoyed this short little list. I wish I could go more in depth, but for now this will have to do. Have a good day everybody.

What A Coincidence
Last night I was sitting reading my wonderful American Heritage textbook that I only have 1 chapter left to read (Kip Dynamite Bowling Reference: 'Yesssssssss'). Anyways I was reading about the Civil Rights movement and the Supreme Court and the influence it has had one the country, and one of the people highlighted was Rosa Parks. Then I get on Google this morning and low and behold...
Today is the anniversary of the day Rosa Parks wouldn't give up her seat on that bus in Montgomery, Alabama, which started the Montgomery bus boycott which led to a large amount of Civil Rights activist movements. It is sad that even after Slavery was emancipated it took almost a century for Jim Crow laws, and segregation to be eliminated in this nation. I am happy we live where we do today, where everyone is free and equal and that it is a time when we are protected by a wonderful Constitution.
I woke up early and got to go the temple this morning, and even got to do some family names for my friend Corinne and her sister's family. It was a great experience. It started to snow right when we got there at 5:30 AM and now there is more snow here. I just love the snow here because it is just like flour. And that means its harder to get hit by unsuspecting snowballs because it is harder to make them!
Have a great day!
